While working on a Flex project awhile ago I learned the hard way that memory management is really important. Beginning development books really don't touch on this and it's unfortunate. I would have made such better design decisions that wouldn't come back to bite me in the end.
I planned to write up something about it, but these links to a much better job. If you're starting in with Flex I highly recommend you check these out before getting started so your life will be much easier.
